Account and billing
Billing, invoices and refunds
Managing your subscription, finding an invoice, and how to cancel.
Payments are handled by Polar, acting as merchant of record. Practically, that means Polar is the seller on your invoice and handles VAT and sales tax for your country — we never see or store a card number.
Subscribing
From the paywall or your account page. You are sent to a hosted checkout and back afterwards.
Your subscription is tied to your account, not to the browser or the device, so signing in somewhere else carries it with you.
The customer portal
Account → Manage billing opens a session in Polar's portal. That is where you:
- Change or update your payment method
- Download invoices
- Change plan
- Cancel
The portal is session-based rather than a fixed link, so it is opened from inside the app rather than bookmarked.
Invoices
All of them are in the portal, and each is emailed when it is issued. If you need a business address or a VAT ID on them, set it during checkout or in the portal — an invoice already issued generally cannot be re-issued with different details.
Cancelling
Cancel any time in the portal. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for; nothing is prorated away mid-period.
After it lapses, the editor locks. Your projects are not deleted — they are in your browser, and resubscribing restores access to them exactly as they were.
Refunds
The refund policy is on the refunds page, which is the authoritative version. For anything not covered there, contact support before opening a dispute — a dispute is slower for both of us than an email.
If access does not update after paying
Entitlement is read once and cached for the page's lifetime. After a checkout:
- Reload the page.
- If it still says no access, sign out and back in.
- If it still says no access, contact support with the email you paid with.
The webhook that grants access is server-to-server and signature-verified, so it does not depend on your browser finishing the redirect. If payment succeeded, the entitlement will land.
If checkout is unavailable
If the billing provider is not reachable, the upgrade page says so rather than offering a purchase. Nothing is charged in that state, and the free plan is unaffected.
